The peripheral artery occlusive disease (PAOD) is an unanimous marker disease for two major medical killers: strokes and heart attacks. The disease affects 12–20% of a population. Despite its prevalence and cardiovascular risk implications, only 25 percent of the patients are undergoing treatment. We have designed a special blood pressure device to measure the ABPI (Ankle Brachial Pressure Index) and to run quick and easy diagnostics for PAOD. Screening for the disease isn't easily done with the technology available at the moment, but it will be very simple and cost-effective to mass screen a population with our product. We hope to help save thousands of lives per year and still build a profitable business.
